LCF 040 12 075S Constant Force Spring

Constant Force Springs

Smooth Operation Under Stress

Lee Spring LCF 040 12 075S is a precision constant force spring from the Constant Force Springs series, engineered for applications requiring consistent load delivery throughout extended linear deflection. This spring features a 0.012-inch thickness (0.3 mm) with a 0.75-inch width (19.05 mm), delivering a constant load of 5.94 lb (26.42 N) throughout a working deflection of 30 inches (762 mm). Made from , the spring operates with an inside diameter of 0.88 inch (22.35 mm) and is designed to work with a drum diameter of 1.19 inch (30.23 mm) for predictable linear force characteristics.

With a rated life cycle of 4000 cycles, this constant force spring provides consistent performance for applications requiring uniform load delivery over extended travel distances, making it ideal for counterbalancing mechanisms, retractors, and motor-driven assemblies where maintaining constant tension is critical.

About the Constant Force Spring Series

The Lee Spring Series of extension represent the most versatile type available. Ideal for use when smooth operating forces are required. Available in four Life Cycle ranges: 2500, 4000, 13000 and 25000. Each spring is made of a high yield Type 301 Stainless Steel strip exerting a nearly constant restraining force to resist uncoiling.

Constant Force springs offer the advantage of a smooth operation across the operating range. When the strip is extended (deflected), the inherent stress resists the loading force, the same as a common extension spring, but at a nearly constant (zero) rate. A constant torque is obtained when the outer end of the spring is attached to another spool and caused to wind in either the reverse or same direction as it is originally wound.

The full rated load of the spring is reached after being deflected to a length equal to 1.25 times its diameter. Thereafter, it maintains a relatively constant force regardless of extension length. Load is basically determined by the thickness and width of the material and the diameter of the coil.
